Give today...

Help a child tomorrow...

But still waters run deep, and we have plans to help heal and ensure that our children leave this pandemic with greater opportunities than when it began. It’s impossible to turn on the television without hearing reports about the economic and health disparities highlighted by COVID-19. Our children are being confronted with another disparity: education.

Approximately forty percent of our children have had no schooling since Safer at Home. This lack of education only compounds an existing dilemma. Seventy-eight percent of our children already have an identifiable reading delay. We believe that this widening educational gap threatens to widen the economic and health disparities facing children and families today.

Please take the opportunity to help us – and the many Milwaukee families that we serve – on “GivingTuesdayNow,” which will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10)

As we restart our summer and fall program, we are working to close this educational gap. With your help, we will offer enriched academic support services to allow our children who have fallen behind the opportunity to catch up, and those who are ready, the resources to accelerate. This program has been a part of our strategic plan in an effort to break the cycle of poverty. The need to move forward is now greater than ever.

We are asking for your help in raising $40,000 during our spring appeal. These funds will assist in our mission to provide educational resources and support to children and families. For more information about our organization and the opportunities we provide, please visit our website at nbap.org.

Additionally, for those of you in the area, we are also in need of volunteers who would be interested in working with our youth.

Your contribution will provide for children in our community in the following ways:

$1,200      Provides a year of enrichment and acceleration for one child

$ 500        Provides access to technology and computer support

$ 100        Support for one year of online learning and assessment materials for one                         student

$ 50          Supports the purchase of books and learning materials for our summer                           program

$ 35          Support one week of summer camp for a child

Dear Friends,

New Beginnings Are Possible – like so many vitally                                                            important community organizations that serve                                                                    Milwaukee-area children and their families – has been                                                      “still” since the Safer at Home Order.
