Board Chairman, discovered NBAP in 2003 and came by way of a
recommendation from Here’s Life Inner City. Mr. Johnson serves on countless committees and
is driven simply by his motivation of “getting it done.” Inspired by “smiles, growth, change, and
people with a common focus,” Mr. Johnson is passionate about sharing his time, talents, and
treasures with the youth of New Beginnings. |
Rafael Andrews |
Founder and President of Minority Christian Coaches Association (MCCA), Rafael Andrews
has been serving New Beginnings as a board member since 2003. With a background in social
work and youth program development, Mr. Andrews is committed to the vision of NBAP and
values “the impact the organization has on the lives of young children.” |

Board member since 2010, Amanda Blank was drawn to New Beginnings because of its
dedication to the enrichment of the lives of youth, predicated on Christian service. A graduate
of Yale University with a diverse background in ministry and operations management, Ms. Blank
offers her talents to NBAP in the areas of marketing, communications, and event planning. |
Curt Laetz |
Board Member since 2004, is a partner in EMG Partners, LLC and spent 25 years
as an executive in several manufacturing companies. Mr. Laetz focuses his time and talent
on marketing and fundraising at NBAP, as well as performing the function of Treasurer. The
highlight of Mr. Laetz’s NBAP experience is spending time with the kids during the annual week
long Nature Camp.
A member of Eastbrook Church, Mr. Laetz resides in
Shorewood with his wife of 42 years, Linda. |
Jason Lohrey |
Involved with NBAP since 2003, Board member Jason Lohrey serves on the Church and Annual
Dinner committees, as well as volunteers his time with the “A Different Path” program at St.
Charles. Mr. Lohrey enjoys “interacting with the youth, whether at the Center or St. Charles,
whether helping with homework or sharing a meal together.” Mr. Lohrey attends Elmbrook
Church, where he serves as a laision to NBAP and serves on the Haiti focus group. |
Shelton McClure |
Shelton has been a Board Member since 2010 and became involved based on his “love
for kids and understanding of the trials they go through in the inner city.” Mr. McClure is
employed with JPMorgan Chase Bank and attends Parklawn Assembly of God. |
Amy Ziegler |
A member of the board since 2010, Amy Ziegler first learned of NBAP years ago when she was
teaching and sent several of her students to New Beginnings. With degrees in Elementary and
Special Education, Ms. Ziegler has been integral in the development of the Reading Initiative at NBAP, aimed at improving the reading levels of all New Beginnings youth. When asked what she
likes most about NBAP, she answers simply, “I love the children. They are warm and loving.” |
